A Big Unit of an Insight?

I generally don't suffer well claims that the Yankees "buy championships" etc. First they haven't won in seven years so it's a weak argument right off the bat and secondly I buy Beane's dictum that it's all about making the playoffs then it's a crapshoot from there. In all this RJ to Arizona (which btw is probably a mostly a good thing although I can definitely imagine a scenario where we're kicking ourselves come September) stuff though I did notice one thing:

The more the Yankees agree to pay Arizona as part of the deal, the more talented a package they will reap.

Right then it occurred to me: The Yankees in this situation are effectively buying prospects. For some reason this is more disturbing to me than their buying established free agents like Damon, Giambi or Mussina. . .

I'd never really thought of it before, but in contexts like this the Yankees can essentially purchase prospects for the right price. . .

Duke News

My beloved alma mater Duke University has a new law school dean and invites back two of the accused lax players. Tough situation that whole thing.

I'm not sure if Duke has always been right during this whole situation, but I do that Duke is a great place and I like to think that Brodhead and company's heart was always in the right place. . .

The Iraq Revelation You Won't Hear Elsewhere

This from NPR, and being reported almost nowhere else as far as I can tell, a shocking revelation from Hans Blix, stream this and either fast forward to or pay particular attention to the point around 15:50 and moving forward.

What he's saying essentially is that they knew a lot of intelligence regarding specifically three dozen locations was wrong. BUSH KNEW THIS AND NEVER DISCLOSED IT.

This is, quite simply, grounds for impeachment of George W. Bush.

Gimme some truth,
